Zugspitzbahn (Mountain Train)

The Zugspitzbahn is an experience in itself. This historic train runs on its own dedicated tracks from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to an underground station at the summit of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze. Along the journey, it stops at several gondola stations and passes through meadows with spectacular Alpine views.

The Zugspitzbahn station is located next to Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s main train station.
It operates independently from the regional rail network.
Clearly marked signs lead to the Zugspitzbahn ticket office.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the station.
